Not to mention, in order to get the ball rolling, she'll actually need to get the right set of equipment. Cauldron is quite frankly a very poor substitute of the absolute control characters like rogue and warrior get over their dice values and she's the one that needs it most. She above all others is entirely at the mercy of RNG. No, her problem is just being incredibly swingey. The only thing standing in your way at that point is just running into a really nasty boss (Hi Audrey, thanks for ripping another run from my hands). Especially with a combination of Blizzard and Lightning with 2 upgraded slots, you can establish a pretty nasty lockdown, where the opponent has crap dice and has to spend half of them to do anything. The minute you get your hands on stuff like Inferno, Blizzard or Lightning, the 2 dice attacks that double their afflictions when upgraded, you're run is pretty much secured. Her ability to just projectile-vomit status ailments makes stuff like Freeze, Weak and Shock actually effective strats, whereas those tend to be more niche bonuses for other characters. Once you realize you can loop spells by replacing used spells with the same spell again on the same spot, effectively getting a reuse, you can start taking advantage of some crazy potential. With a good setup, you can average damages that puts even Warrior to shame and can handily lock down an opponent. For example, you can't build her deffensively because strong or poison enemies obliterate you just giving that the 90 % of her support equipment is generating new dices. In 10 rounds never got life drain, just the healing spell that heals for one point.ĭefinitely, is something wrong with the character, I have no problems with the others on beating the first stage at the third try but, now, I'm in my eleventh run and I'm giving up with her. Haven't seen the death screen yet, although Rogue and Witch definitely came closest. I figure the first runs with the five characters are just intros. Honestly I'm waiting for the game to get difficult. Ended every fight full health at the end, including a bus that seemed to enjoy being frozen (Madison). I ended up freezing enemies and killing everything with life drain. Once you understand her gimmicks she can do crazy stuff. She took a lot of early damage before I knew what was up but nothing the level up healing couldn't handle. You think the witch is weak? I just did my first run of the five characters and thought she was crazy good once I realized her mechanic. Originally posted by PorkSocks:Woah, hold up. The gimmick of throwing dice and having to sacrifice the dice to summon spells is cute but it’s not efficient and destroys the fluidity of gameplay. This game is fun on every other character except this one because of its shoddy design. There’s also no reason I can’t adjust to literally every other characters quirk except the weakness of the witch. I understand the concept of being “most challenging” character, but there’s a clear problem in a particular characters design if people apparently have to make mods just to remedy what the developer hasn’t fixed. I wonder if the developer has addressed this at all. In my playtime of this game, this is the only character where you’re pinholed into one specific particular play style and even struggle trying to pull it off. I’ve beaten the bonus round on other characters I can’t even beat level 1 with the Witch. It’s an extremely underwhelming, limited, character and I have a feeling I’m not the only one who has come to this same conclusion.Īll the other characters, design-wise, are perfectly fine and feasible. The easiest way the developer could remedy the design flaw is simply allow the user to start off with more prepared slots, have the throw dice special inflict 2 damage instead of 1, or add better spell options. The character is fundamentally flawed in its design compared to the others which have unique and quirky caveats which are still challenging but enjoyable like the thief or the robot. One could argue this is true with other characters but with other characters you’re not penalized with having to generate your spells and hope you get enough prepared slots to set up the pre-game fight. I’ve already learned her only 2 feasible play styles (fast attack build or stacking build with health spells), and both are very hard to reach unless you get lucky with early drops. How exactly are you struggling with her? What aspects of her kit do you think are weak? Originally posted by Jackeea:Witch is fine once you learn how to play her tbh
